Every year brings new terminology to legal cannabis, especially in the area of cannabinoids. These aren't just trendy buzzwords, they're a testament to the amazing and continually surprising potential of the cannabis plant.

You may have already heard of Delta-8 THC, a lesser-known cannabinoid that has been shaking things up in the legal cannabis industry and getting many people excited about its potential for wellness. For those that are unfamiliar, you might be thinking, “THC is THC, right?” Not necessarily.

There is so much misinformation and information out there about the many benefits of cannabis, it can be easy to get lost in your quest for the best cannabis-based product for you. We've got your back!

We believe that cannabinoid education and cannabinoid information is essential for optimal self-care. It is also important to know exactly what you're putting into your body. Continue reading to learn more about Delta-8-THC and how it differs from Delta-9 -THC.

What is Delta-8, THC and how does it differ from Delta-9-THC

Delta-8 -THC is an analog of tetrahydrocannabinol. It has been studied for neuroprotective, analgesic (pain-relieving), and other properties.  The delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, or delta-8-THC, binds to CB1 (cannabinoid G protein-coupled receptor CB1) in the central nervous.

CB1 receptor activation inhibits Adenyl Cyclase, increases mitogen-activated protein kinase activities, and modulates many potassium channel conductances. It also inhibits P/Q-type Ca2+ canals. This agent has a lower psychotropic potency than delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary form of THC found in cannabis.

The main difference between these two compounds, as mentioned above, is that Delta-8 THC has a lower psychotropic potency – meaning that it induces a more relaxing, anxiety-free cannabis experience than its counterpart.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who has ever experienced a negative experience with high-potency marijuana. Although there is much more research needed, we believe this new discovery will be beneficial to those who want to still enjoy the benefits of cannabis but are experiencing anxiety or paranoia.
